The article provides an overview of the weekly and monthly dynamics of dairy product prices in Poland and the European Union (EU) in the fourth week of November 2022. In Poland, butter prices decreased by 3% week-on-week and 6.5% month-on-month, with year-on-year increases of 22% for butter in blocks and 15% for packaged butter. Skimmed milk powder (SMP) and whole milk powder (PMP) prices also saw decreases week-on-week but increases year-on-year, with SMP at a 22% increase and PMP at a 50% increase compared to last year.
In the EU, producers received EUR 6.36/kg for butter, down by 3% week-on-week and 7% month-on-month, with prices nearly three times the intervention price. SMP was sold at EUR 3.12/kg, down by 1% week-on-week and 8% month-on-month, while whole milk powder was at EUR 4.43/kg, down by 1% week-on-week and 5% month-on-month. Compared to last year, EU butter and SMP prices increased by 21% and 0.3%, respectively, while PMP increased by 13%.
On the Chicago Stock Exchange, butter and skimmed milk powder prices showed week-on-week increases but year-on-year decreases, with butter at a 48% increase from last year and SMP at a 5% decrease from last year. Whole milk powder and Cheddar cheese prices increased week-on-week but decreased month-on-month, with whole milk powder at a 31% increase from last year and Cheddar cheese at a 16% increase from last year.
