In 2022, Russia experienced a significant shift in its fruit and vegetable market, with a 27% increase in exports compared to the previous year, as reported by Rosselkhoznadzor. This period also saw a 3% decrease in imports, indicating a growing preference for domestic produce both domestically and internationally. The exports of several key commodities, including tomatoes, cabbage, salad vegetables, pome fruits, stone fruits, food potatoes, onions, garlic, and root crops, experienced substantial increases. The main suppliers of these products were Turkey, Ecuador, Egypt, Belarus, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan. Throughout the year, the Rosselkhoznadzor monitored and managed the import of over 10.7 million tons and 2.4 billion regulated products, taking action against 3,504 cases of quarantined items to prevent their entry into Russia. This proactive approach aims to ensure the quality and safety of Russia's fruit and vegetable supply, both domestically and internationally.
