Hai Duong province in Vietnam has seen a notable increase in the planting of winter crops, with over 17,200 hectares cultivated, which is a rise of 1,000 hectares from the previous year. The province is on track to achieve 82% of its winter crop target, with Kinh Mon town leading in planting efforts, primarily growing onions and garlic. Other districts such as Nam Sach, Gia Loc, and Kim Thanh also contribute significantly to the green movement. The Sub-Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection has suggested expanding the planting area for cold-loving plants like potatoes and has encouraged the promotion of consumption to improve marketability. The province has also seen an increase in the cultivation of vegetables like kohlrabi, cabbage, and cauliflower, occupying over 70% of the total winter crop planting area. This increase in production has led to a surplus, resulting in a significant drop in vegetable prices. Farmers in Tu Ky and Gia Loc districts are currently harvesting early winter vegetables, and the market is flooded with an oversupply.
