Austria has seen a significant increase in corn imports from Ukraine and Serbia this year, with 99,889 tons and 86,100 tons imported respectively, a huge increase from the previous year's figures. This has led to an increase in the marketing of domestic batches, with 265,209 tons of maize in domestic silos as of August 31, 2022, up from 181,535 tons in the previous year. The wet corn campaign is coming to an end, with producers selling an above-average part of their grain corn harvest as wet corn due to high drying costs and attractive bids. There are no quality issues with maize in Austria, Germany, and Poland, but excessive aflatoxin levels have been reported in traditional supplier countries like Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Italy.
