The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has successfully completed a country-level audit of Indonesia's food safety and control measures, paving the way for the export of poultry and their derivative products from Indonesia to Singapore. The audit, which commended Indonesia's food security and control, involved the inspection of two companies, PT Charoen Phokpand Indonesia and PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia. The agreement on fulfilling all necessary veterinary conditions will ensure animal health and food safety. Twelve business actors from Indonesia have applied for SFA accreditation to begin exports, with an expectation to start by the end of the month. This partnership is seen as a means to overcome the food crisis in Asia and expand Indonesia's poultry product market in Asia.
