Despite concerns raised by farmers about cracking and missed harvesting of cherries due to rain and labor shortages, official data from the Ministry of Agriculture in Bulgaria shows an 8.6% increase in cherry harvest and a significant rise in the pink flower harvest compared to last year. The increase in cherry harvest is attributed to a faster harvesting rate, with a total of 7.9 thousand tons harvested as of June 9. Additionally, the production of oil rose has seen a 41% increase, along with cabbage and greenhouse tomatoes. However, there has been a decrease in the planted areas for various crops, with the most significant decline being in cucumbers (45.8% less than last year). The harvest of potatoes and strawberries has also seen significant decreases of 56.7% and 12.9% respectively.
