The European Commission has proposed a Regulation to temporarily remove tariffs for seven agricultural products from Moldova, including plums and grapes, to help the country copes with the economic impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. This move aims to facilitate market access and economic resilience for Moldova. The proposal, which needs approval from the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, would double the duty-free import limits for these products from Moldova for a year, potentially providing around €55 million in duty-free trade. This is part of the EU's efforts to support Moldova through its preferential trade agreement and Association Agreement, which include the deep and comprehensive free trade area, aiming to align Moldova's legislation with the EU acquis and strengthen its economy and trade relations.
