Between January and May 2022, Chile experienced a 5.4% decrease in vegetable exports, totaling $191.8 million FOB, as reported by the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa). Despite the overall decline, there was a notable increase in the value of tomato exports by 17.9%, reaching $60.2 million FOB, despite a 6% decrease in volume. Garlic exports saw a significant drop by 26.6% in value and 8.8% in volume. Onion exports experienced the highest growth, increasing by 15.3 tons or 59.4%, mainly to Brazil and Spain. The United States was the top market for horticultural goods, followed by Mexico, Holland, and Brazil, which saw an 80.9% increase in value in the analyzed period.
