Morocco is facing a potential financial loss of up to 40% in its exports due to Russia's exclusion from the Swift interbank system. This situation particularly affects the export of citrus fruits, with approximately third of the total annual export of 600,000 tons being shipped to Russia, especially for the large-orange segment. The ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war has further complicated the situation, leading to concerns as the citrus export season draws to a close. The Moroccan Interprofessional Citrus Federation has reported over 57 million US dollars in unpaid debts and predicts that Russian buyers may default on up to 30% to 40% of small fruit exports.
