Between January and May 2022, Chile experienced a 19.2% increase in vegetable imports compared to the same period in 2021, totaling 103.6 million CIF dollars. Despite a 48% decrease in dehydrated vegetables, fresh and processed vegetables saw an increase. The most imported vegetable was tomato, accounting for 14.4% of the value, mainly in the form of paste from the United States, Mexico, and China. Corn was the second most imported vegetable, with Chile receiving mostly frozen corn from Belgium, Poland, China, the United States, and Spain. China was the top supplier, followed by the United States, Peru, Belgium, and Spain.
