Ukraine has been exporting corn and other products through western borders and small Danube ports since Russia's aggression has blocked Black Sea ports. Despite challenges such as increased transportation costs and queues at transit stations, Ukraine has exported 4.717 million tons of corn since the start of the military aggression. Demand and prices for Ukrainian corn have decreased in neighboring markets, but transportation costs have increased due to pressure on corn prices and the start of barley harvesting. Improved weather conditions in the Black Sea region and better crop conditions in Western Europe have led to a decrease in futures for Black Sea corn and corn futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Paris Euronext. The EU has imported 16.2 million tons of corn in the 2021/22 season, exceeding the previous season's figures.
