France is taking the lead in attempting to lift the blockade of the Odessa port in Ukraine, which has been caused by the conflict with Russia, in order to prevent a global food crisis. The port is crucial for the export of grain, with Ukraine currently having around 20-25 million tons under blockade, potentially rising to 70-75 million tons in the autumn. France is advocating for a UN Security Council resolution and is supported by Senegal and Turkey in the effort. The French president has also clarified that he does not support Russia's actions and is advocating for a ceasefire and a fair trial, while denying accusations of being too permissive of Moscow.
