Export market for Fresh Pear in United States (11월, 2022)

A bilateral agreement between Argentine and US health authorities to update the Pre-shipment Program at origin for the export of Argentine fruits from fruit fly-free areas to the US was signed at the Ezeiza international airport. The agreement allows for phytosanitary certification for the export of certain fruits to the US, increasing phytosanitary security in bilateral trade and facilitating the entry of these products into the North American market. The program, which began in 1983, requires a joint effort between the national productive sector and health services for commercialization and uses electronic certification for all plant origin exports to the US. In 2021, Argentina exported over 50,000 tons of cherries, plums, peaches, apples, nectarines, and pears to the US, positioning itself as the third largest exporter of these products to the US.
