Export market for Spirits in Brazil (12월, 2022)

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) has introduced Ordinance No. 539 to establish the Identity and Quality Standard (PIQ) for sugarcane brandy and cachaça. The ordinance, which will be effective from February 1, 2023, aims to harmonize the production and consumption of these distilled sugarcane beverages. It mandates that cachaça must now be produced exclusively in a copper still and treated from the distillation of must fermented from raw sugar cane juice. Producers will have up to two years to adjust their products and establishments in compliance with the new standards.
