Import market for Sunflower Oil in India (6월, 2022)

The Indian state of Karnataka will be the pilot location for a new sunflower seed production project, aiming to produce the first 5,000 quintals of a new hybrid sunflower seed in 2022. This initiative is part of a larger effort by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Karnataka Oilseeds Federation (KOF) to increase oilseed production across the country, with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in edible oils. The project, which will commercialize the sunflower hybrid KBSH-41, is expected to be expanded to other regions following its success in Karnataka. The initiative aims to provide quality seeds at reasonable prices to farmers, who will be encouraged to grow sunflower, as well as increase the production of peanut and mustard seeds. The project is in response to a shortage of sunflower oil and high costs of imported sunflower seeds.
