Import market for Sunflower Oil in Lebanon (6월, 2022)

The World Trade Organization warns that the food crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine could last for years, particularly impacting African countries due to a shortage of wheat and fertilizers. The conflict has halted millions of tons of grain from being exported, increasing global prices for wheat, sunflower oil, and corn. Ukraine, a major exporter of these commodities, has only managed to export two million tonnes of grain. The war has already led to a 30% increase in sunflower oil prices and a 23% rise in corn prices, with wheat prices surging by 59% from the previous year. The conflict threatens to lead to tens of millions being at risk of starvation.
