The Kick-off Meeting for Drafting Industry Standards for "Wood Barrel Aging of Alcoholic Beverages" Was Successfully Held
On July 1, 2025, the Kickoff Meeting for the Industry Standard of "Wooden Barrels for Liquor Aging" was successfully held in Yantai, Shandong Province, hosted by the China Food Fermentation Industry Research Institute and organized by Yantai Keya Brandy Winery Co., Ltd.
Zhang Baochun, General Manager of Yantai Keya Brandy Winery Co., Ltd., Song Quanhou, Secretary-General of the National Brewing Standardization Technical Committee, Fu Yuwu, Principal Staff Member of the China Light Industry Federation and the National Food Direct Contact Materials and Products Standardization Committee, Li Jiming, Deputy General Manager of Yantai Changyu Grape Wine Co., Ltd., and over 30 experts from domestic and international liquor production enterprises, barrel manufacturing companies, universities, and research institutes participated in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Meng Zhen, Deputy Director of the China Food Institute.
Zhang Baochun first delivered a welcome speech and reviewed the leading role in the revision of the new Brandy National Standard. She proposed multiple core concepts and key perspectives during the revision work, promoting the alignment of the new Brandy National Standard with international advanced levels and helping to create an industry benchmark for high-quality development. For this standard development, she will continue to complete the tasks of the "Wooden Barrels for Liquor Aging" industry standard with high standards and efficiency, expecting the standard to provide scientific and authoritative technical support for the barrel industry and promote high-quality development of liquor products.
Fu Yuwu proposed four opinions on standard compilation: first, emphasizing the scientificity and advancement of the standard, focusing on technical verification; second, strengthening the coordination of the standard by widely soliciting industry opinions to ensure consensus; third, highlighting the guiding and practical nature of the standard to make it truly "usable, practical, and effective" in guiding healthy industry development; fourth, strictly adhering to time nodes to complete the standard compilation with high quality.
