According to a report by Itaú BBA, sugar prices on the international market fell by 3.3% in March and fell by another 7.1% in the first 15 days of April, being quoted at 17.52 cents per pound on April 15. The pressure comes from both macroeconomic instability and the devaluation of the real, as well as sales from Thailand, which, despite having already finished the harvest, has not yet fixed practically half of the volume to be sold.

According to an analysis by Hedgepoint Global Markets, sugar prices remain under pressure due to factors such as ethanol parity and import arbitrage from China. Despite slower demand from the Chinese market, countries such as Bangladesh, Malaysia and Algeria have increased their purchases since October 2024, which may have supported prices amid global macroeconomic fragility and rumors of a smaller harvest in Brazil's Center-South region.

The European Union plans to reduce quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products, which will most affect corn, honey, sugar, and poultry.
