A study published in Animals 2022 investigated the effect of infrared radiation treatment on oilseeds (camelina, flax, and sunflower) for poultry feed, focusing on improving broiler productivity and meat quality. The research involved irradiating seeds with an ESC-1 generator at 180°C for 60 seconds and adding 15% of micronized oilseeds to broiler diets from day 22. The results showed that treated seeds led to increased breast, thigh, and drumstick weights, reduced abdominal fat, and changes in blood parameters such as hemoglobin and calcium levels in the pectoral muscle and liver. These findings suggest that infrared-irradiated oilseeds can enhance the nutritional value and quality of poultry meat, with potential benefits for the poultry industry.
