Between January and March of 2022, US agricultural imports experienced an 18% increase compared to the same period in 2021, totaling USD 19,612 million. This growth is largely attributed to a significant rise in imports from Peru, which saw a 35% increase to USD 1,176 million, marking the country's first quarter of surpassing USD 1,000 million in exports. This surge is primarily driven by higher imports of Peruvian fruits, vegetables, grains, coffee, and corn. Notably, grape, blueberry, and coffee imports experienced substantial increases of 3%, 13%, and 40% respectively. Peru's exports also gained traction in the US market, with grapes and blueberries reaching lower price points despite overall market price increases. Consequently, Peru's share in the coffee market also grew, marking a notable achievement in its export performance in the first quarter of 2022.
