In Kayseri, a city without a sea, a significant event has taken place at Yamula Dam, where a total of 10 million dollars worth of fish exports, mainly salmon, have been harvested. The city's Governor, Gökmen Çiçek, and Mayor, Memduh Büyükkılıç, along with other local officials and business owners, participated in the harvest. The dam, built without any cost to the municipal budget, not only regulates irrigation but also generates electricity. Kayseri is now the leading contributor to Turkey's supply of juvenile trout and fish, with an annual production capacity of approximately 4 thousand tons. The harvested fish are processed and exported, primarily to Russia. This success underscores the city's growing importance in the fisheries sector and highlights the potential for further development in this area.
