The European Commission has updated its agricultural forecasts, predicting a slight increase in common wheat production to 130.4 million tonnes for the 2022/2020 marketing year. However, it has lowered its forecasts for barley and maize production to 52.3 million tonnes and 72.5 million tonnes respectively for the 2022/23 marketing year. The Commission also expects a decrease in EU wheat exports and an increase in maize imports, taking into account the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on grain exports. Additionally, the forecast for EU sunflower oil imports has been raised significantly for the 2022/23 marketing year.
