Korea Forest Service, Expanding Supply of Chestnuts and Jujubes for Lunar New Year… Variety of Discount Events
(Daejeon=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Eun-pa = The Korea Forest Service announced on the 9th that it will expand the supply of seasonal products and open and operate an online sales event to stabilize the supply of forest products for the Lunar New Year. The Korea Forest Service plans to increase the supply of seasonal products, chestnuts and jujubes, by 5 times and 12 times, respectively, until the 26th. The Forest Products Supply and Demand Stabilization Countermeasure Team will be formed to check the price trends and supply status of forest products every day, and an online sales event will be operated so that consumers can conveniently purchase forest products. The Forest Products Specialty Shopping Mall Blue Market (www.sanrim.com) operated by the National Forestry Cooperatives Federation is offering a Lunar New Year gift set of shiitake mushrooms, dried persimmons, bracken, and wild ginseng at up to 40% off. You can also buy chestnuts and jujubes at a low price at the Forest Products Brand Hall operated by Naver Shopping and Post Office Shopping. Large marts are also offering discounts of up to 40% on chestnuts, jujubes, etc., and 12 forestry cooperatives nationwide, including the National Forestry Cooperatives Federation, are also holding discount events so that consumers can purchase various forestry products at lower prices. Commissioner of the Korea Forest Service Lim Sang-seop said, "I hope that the stable supply of forestry products and various discount events will reduce the burden of preparing holiday meals even a little." sw21@yna.co.kr Report to KakaoTalk okjebo <Copyrights (c) Yonhap News, Unauthorized reproduction and redistribution, AI learning and use prohibited> Sent on 2025/01/09 13:36

“Apples and pine nuts are in sufficient supply… No supply disruptions expected for pears either”
The Korea Fruit Agricultural Cooperatives Association (Chairman Park Cheol-seon, Chairman of Chungbuk Horticultural Cooperative) and the National Fruit APC Operation Association (Chairman Koo Bon-kwon, Chairman of Chungnam Asan Horticultural Cooperative) announced that they will do their utmost to stabilize fruit supply and demand at the production site level in time for the Lunar New Year holiday (January 29). According to the ‘2024 Apple and Pear Production Survey Results’ released by Statistics Korea in December last year, apples were produced at 460,000 tons, up 16.6% from the previous year, and pears were produced at 178,000 tons, down 2.9%. According to the two organizations, a survey of the status of agricultural product distribution centers (APCs) in major fruit production areas nationwide found that apples were secured in large quantities, each sized at 350-380g, which are often used in gift sets. It was also reported that each production area had enough pears to not cause supply and demand disruptions despite last year’s poor crop. Chairman Park Cheol-seon said, “The harvest of ‘Shine Muscat’ grapes has increased compared to the average year, so there will be no problem in supply and demand this year. The harvest of Hallabong and Cheonhyehyang citrus fruits is similar to the average year, so a stable supply is possible.” He added, “We are doing our best to store and supply fruits from the production site stage, and we will work with various distributors to set reasonable prices and supply a stable quantity.” The Korea Fruit Agricultural Cooperative Federation has 19 fruit product cooperatives nationwide as members, and the National Fruit Specialist APC Operation Council has 49 agricultural product distribution centers (APCs) nationwide.
