The first value-added coffee bean processing business in the Hainan Free Trade Port has landed in Wanning
On May 27, Hainan Zhuoran Coffee Co., Ltd. successfully cleared customs after processing Arabica coffee beans from Panama, marking the first successful value-added processing of coffee beans in the Hainan Free Trade Port and the first such business in Wanning City, injecting new momentum into the local coffee industry. "Becoming one of the first pilot enterprises for value-added processing in the Wanning Free Trade Port not only reduces operating costs but also helps further expand the international market," said Tong Shuo, responsible person at Hainan Zhuoran Coffee Co., Ltd. He added that they will continue to fully utilize preferential policies, import more high-quality coffee beans from around the world, and extend from trade to cultural promotion and product research and development, thereby building a complete industrial chain to achieve "global buying and selling" and help Hainan become an important link in the global coffee industry chain. To promote the landing of value-added processing business in the Wanning Free Trade Port, the Yecheng Customs of Haikou Customs provided "one-on-one" detailed explanations to enterprises on value-added processing account registration procedures, application processes, and consumption quota calculations, and provided real-time guidance on single window system declarations. The Wenchang Customs of Haikou Customs, through "bringing policies to the door," provided on-site guidance on video monitoring installation and online declaration. Additionally, to address enterprises' policy comprehension challenges, they deployed business backbone staff to develop support plans, actively connected with local commerce, industry, and information departments, and jointly built a comprehensive policy service system to help enterprises truly benefit from policy dividends. "Currently, Wanning City has approved 9 pilot enterprises for free trade port value-added processing, including 7 coffee bean processing companies. The successful landing of the first business lays a solid foundation for enhancing the free trade port's stress test level," said a responsible person from Wenchang Customs. Moving forward, Haikou Customs will continue to optimize services, strengthen inter-departmental coordination, actively help enterprises solve difficulties, and assist more companies in enjoying the policy benefits of value-added processing in the Hainan Free Trade Port.

In the first four months, imports of green coffee beans from Africa through Shanghai ports increased by 129.5%
Recently, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Hongqiao International Coffee Culture Festival and Global Coffee Industry Development Hongqiao Forum was held at the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center (hereinafter referred to as Hongqiao Goods Hub). At the scene, a batch of coffee green beans from Uganda made their first appearance, attracting frequent attention from guests. This batch of Ugandan coffee green beans was recently imported by Hainan Zhongyu International Cooperation Co., Ltd., totaling 42 tons. After customs clearance, the coffee beans were immediately transferred to a constant temperature and humidity warehouse to prevent moisture and ensure freshness. "After coffee beans enter the bonded logistics center, they can directly connect with purchasers without paying import tariffs and value-added tax. Enterprises can achieve 'zero delay' from bonded warehouse to live streaming room," explained Mo Haowen, deputy director of logistics monitoring at Shenliu Customs under Shanghai Customs. "Relying on the customs bonded exhibition and trading supervision model, purchasers can directly view sample beans, reducing capital occupation costs and significantly improving capital turnover efficiency," said Li Ying, strategic development director of Hainan Zhongyu. So far, Hongqiao Goods Hub has collaborated with relevant enterprises to vigorously import coffee green beans from 25 Belt and Road Initiative countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Vietnam, Peru, and Jamaica, becoming a vivid example of "Silk Road E-commerce" radiation and leading area construction. Data shows that the coffee port has gathered suppliers from 60 global countries and over 100 coffee industry suppliers, driving trade volume of 3 billion yuan. According to Shanghai Customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, Shanghai port imported coffee worth 26.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.5%. Among this, imported coffee green beans from Africa were valued at 583 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 129.5%.
