CIIE "spoiler"! French kiwi berries will make their debut at the CIIE
On October 26, a batch of CIIE exhibits from France arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, including fresh apples, apple juice and soft-fleshed kiwifruit, weighing more than 1,200 kilograms. Soft-fleshed kiwifruit, also known as kiwi berry, is the smallest and coldest variety in the kiwi genus. In April 2023, the General Administration of Customs of China issued the "Announcement on Plant Quarantine Requirements for Importing Fresh Soft-fleshed Kiwifruit from France", and France became the first country to be allowed to export kiwi berries to China. This is also the first time that French kiwi berries have been exhibited at the CIIE. It is currently the French kiwi berry picking season. France Kiwifruit starts to be available in late October each year, and the production season can last until June of the following year. About 75% of kiwifruits are produced in the southwest of France, and 23% are produced in the southeast of France. According to the announcement of the General Administration of Customs, French kiwifruits must be cold-treated before they can be exported to China. The cold treatment temperature requirement is 1.1°C or below (pulp temperature), for more than 14 consecutive days; or 1.7°C or below (pulp temperature), for more than 16 consecutive days; or 2.1°C or below (pulp temperature), for more than 18 consecutive days. Japan Allows Use of Hexaconazole to Control Anthracnose in Peppers Exported to Japan
(Jeonju=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jin-bang = The Rural Development Administration announced on the 14th that it has established the Japanese residual tolerance standard (IT) for 'hexaconazole', an anthracnose pesticide used when growing peppers, after two years of consultation with the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. With the Japanese residual tolerance standard for hexaconazole set, domestic farmers can now use hexaconazole to control anthracnose when growing peppers exported to Japan. Previously, Japan did not have a residual tolerance standard for hexaconazole used in peppers, so its use was prohibited. If hexaconazole was detected when exporting peppers to Japan, customs clearance was denied. The Rural Development Administration reported that this measure also lifted the order to conduct a full inspection of Korean peppers for hexaconazole. The residual tolerance standard for hexaconazole, set in consultation with the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, is 0.2 mg per kg. Japan implemented a comprehensive inspection order for Korean peppers for hexaconazole from May 2021, as hexaconazole, a pesticide banned in 2021, was detected twice in Korean peppers. Since then, as of May of this year, hexaconazole was detected eight times in Korean peppers during customs clearance, making it difficult to export domestic peppers to Japan. The Rural Development Administration plans to produce and distribute pesticide safety guidelines containing hexaconazole residue tolerance standards and safe use methods for domestic farmers growing peppers for export to Japan, and also provide education and consultation. Lee Hee-dong, head of the Rural Development Administration’s Residual Chemical Evaluation Division, said, “In order to promote agricultural product exports, we will continue to set residue tolerance standards for pesticides that are obstacles in the agricultural product export process by collecting opinions from the agricultural field and actively consulting with export destination countries.” In order to support agricultural product exports, the Rural Development Administration has set 85 pesticide residue standards for 19 exported agricultural products in consultation with the Japanese and Taiwanese governments since 2006. chinakim@yna.co.kr Report via KakaoTalk okjebo <Copyrights (c) Yonhap News, Unauthorized reproduction and redistribution, AI learning and use prohibited> 2024/10/14 14:39 Sent
