(Andong=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Seung-hyung = Gyeongbuk Institute of Agricultural Technology announced on the 14th that it will support the construction of disaster-resistant apple cultivation facilities in Cheongsong. Selected through a pilot project bid by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the project will invest 7 billion won in 20 locations within Cheongsong County to install facilities that can overcome weather disasters such as low temperatures, heavy rains, and hail caused by climate change. The project aims to overcome the limitations of conventional open-field apple cultivation and support core technologies that combine smart agriculture and variety innovation. It includes the construction of open-and-close houses, planting of climate-adaptive domestic varieties such as Golden Ball, application of high-density multi-stem cultivation methods, installation of disaster prevention facilities such as corridor-type warm air blowers, and establishment of an air fog unmanned pest control and environmental control system. The Agricultural Technology Institute expects that by combining the advantage of house cultivation, which can fundamentally prevent diseases such as anthrax and low-temperature damage inherent to open-field cultivation, with high-density multi-stem cultivation, productivity can be maximized.
