Export market for Sunflower Seed in Moldova (11월, 2022)

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has disrupted maritime exports of agricultural products, particularly sunflower oil and meal, and impacted the operation of processing enterprises in Ukrainian ports. This disruption has led to significant changes in the global oilseeds market. Prior to the conflict, Ukraine was the world's leading sunflower producer and exporter, accounting for half of the global trade in 2020/21. Since then, sunflower exports have seen a significant increase, while oil and meal exports have decreased. The USDA forecasts that in 2022/23, Ukraine will export 3.6 million tons of sunflower oil, 2.75 million tons of sunflower meal, and 1.95 million tons of sunflower seeds. The global sunflower production forecast has been reduced by 0.7 million tons to 51.3 million tons, with Ukraine's production forecast also reduced by 0.4 million tons to 10.1 million tons.
