South Korea: Highly pathogenic AI antigen confirmed at Jincheon laying hen farm; Chungbuk egg farm temporarily suspended from movement
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) antigens were detected at a laying hen farm in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for Highly Pathogenic AI (Director Song Mi-ryeong, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs) announced on the 28th that H5-type AI antigens were confirmed at a laying hen farm in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do during a nationwide preliminary inspection of laying hen farms on the 27th. Whether it is highly pathogenic is being precisely tested by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. It will take 1-3 days until the results come out.
The confirmed farm is a place where 16,000 laying hens are raised. If the antigen is confirmed to be highly pathogenic, it will be the 18th case of this winter season.
