A serious traffic accident occurred in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, in northeastern China, resulting in eight deaths and 13 injuries as of now. According to reports from Xinhua News Agency and CCTV News, a single-vehicle traffic accident occurred around 7 a.m. on Sunday (May 3) in the vicinity of Shihuai Kiln Village, Huangtugang Town, Donggang City, Liaoning Province. The report states that, according to preliminary verification by local authorities, a driver surnamed Chang was driving a Ford Quanshun Iveco vehicle (with a capacity for six people, carrying 21 people). According to local authorities, the people in the vehicle were mainly blueberry picking workers, and the vehicle collided with a tree on the side of the road. As of now, the traffic accident has caused eight deaths and 13 injuries, all of whom have been sent to the hospital. The investigation into the cause of the accident and the subsequent handling work are ongoing. During the "May Day" holiday in China, a car hit-and-run accident also occurred in Chengdu, Sichuan, resulting in one death and 11 injuries. According to an official report last Friday (May 1), in the afternoon, a 31-year-old man driving a small car collided with pedestrians when turning right at the intersection of Jiannan Avenue and Tianfu Fourth Street. He then collided with other vehicles and pedestrians while fleeing. The driver was arrested on the spot, and the police have ruled out the possibility of drunk or drugged driving. Videos circulating online show the aforementioned car accelerating into a pedestrian crossing, knocking down multiple pedestrians who were crossing the road, with at least six people falling to the ground and unable to get up. Subsequently, the car drove onto the sidewalk, reversed back onto the road, and collided with an electric scooter carrying two people, causing one person to be knocked to the ground and the other person, along with the electric scooter, to be pushed forward.
