Australian table grape exports to Vietnam hit a record high in the 2021–22 season, with a 98% increase compared to the previous season, reaching A$63 million. This is due to improved trading conditions, export diversification, and the first full season of access to the Merrifield irradiation facility in Victoria. Vietnam's share of total Australian table grape exports also rose to 15%. Additionally, Vietnam became Australia's second most valuable export market for cherries, and the first shipment of peaches and nectarines since 2014 was sent to Vietnam in March 2022. Despite challenges such as seasonal conditions and labor shortages, Australian table grape production is expected to grow in the coming years, leading to continued growth in exports to Vietnam.
