The National Platform for the Defense of Transport has decided against calling a new transport strike, as they will instead focus on negotiating the Chain Law for road goods transport. This decision is welcomed by FEPEX, a group representing the fruit and vegetable export-producing sector, as a strike would significantly harm the sector due to the perishable nature of the products and the crucial role of trucks in transportation. Every week in July, 250,000 tons of fruit and vegetables are exported and 200,000 tons are distributed domestically. The most perishable summer fruits and vegetables, such as peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, cherries, tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce, would have been affected by the potential strike.
