Chitwan's spring paddy production has seen a 20% increase over the past four years, ascribed to mechanization, quality seeds, improved farming practices, and awareness. Despite this, the cultivation area has shrunk by 57 hectares. The region has achieved self-sufficiency in paddy and exports seeds. A total of 30,500 hectares are being cultivated during the rainy season, with 25% of the district's cultivable land having been transplanted with paddy. The district is planning to increase mechanization in paddy planting and irrigates 73% of its cultivable land year-round.
