Export market for Fresh Watermelon in Vietnam (11월, 2022)

Citrus fruits such as Soi Ha pomelos and Vinh oranges are currently on the harvest season, leading to a large output and cheaper prices. A sidewalk fruit stall is selling Soi Ha pomelos for as low as 5,000 VND per fruit, making it a popular purchase among residents. The Department of Crop Production reports that Vietnam has 105,400 hectares of pomelo, yielding nearly 905,000 tons. The Northern Midlands and Mountains alone have over 30,000 hectares, producing 253,000 tons. The cheaper prices are due to a sharp increase in grapefruit growing area, most of which is consumed domestically and put into processing, leading to an oversupply in the market.
