Export market for Honey in Turkiye (12월, 2022)

Professional agricultural organizations in Spain have met with the Secretary General of Agriculture to address the critical situation of the beekeeping sector, which is pushing many beekeepers to the brink of bankruptcy due to a 50% drop in honey harvest and soaring production costs. The organizations have called for urgent aid and requested that beekeepers be included among the beneficiaries of fuel subsidies. They also highlighted the flooding of the market with honey from other countries, especially China, and the lack of transparency in honey labeling. To combat this, they have proposed measures such as changing the origin labeling of honey and launching a campaign to promote Spanish honey. They have also stressed the need for adaptations in sanitary legislation and more involvement in solving Varroa-related issues.
