The World Citrus Organization (WCO) has forecasted a 13% to 15% decrease in northern hemisphere citrus production for the 2022/23 season, totaling 25,958,275 tons. This decline is primarily due to adverse weather conditions in key producing countries like Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, and the U.S. The forecast anticipates significant drops in orange, grapefruit, mandarin, lemon production. However, the EU's production variations are mixed, with increases in Greece and decreases in Spain and Italy. In the southern Mediterranean, production forecasts show declines in Morocco, Turkey, and Tunisia, while Israel and Egypt expect slight increases. The U.S. is also projected to experience a 5.16% decrease in citrus production.
