Compared to the January report, significant reductions were made in corn harvests in South America and in exports from Brazil and Ukraine.

The National Supply Company (Conab) released its weekly monitoring of Brazilian crops and updated the development stage of corn crops for the 2024/25 summer harvest. In the first harvest of the 2024/25 cycle, planting work advanced from 96.8% the previous week to 98.1% as of February 16. This level is in line with the 98.3% recorded in the same period of the last 23/24 harvest. The states that have already completed summer sowing are Piauí, Bahia, Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná and Santa Catarina (100%), followed by Rio Grande do Sul (99%) and Maranhão (81%). At the same time, harvesting in these areas is already progressing, with 21.1% of crops harvested, up from 13.3% last week and in line with the 21.4% recorded in the same period in 2024. Brazilian corn exports amounted to 3.59 million tonnes in January, down by 26.3% from the same month last year. Meanwhile, soybean shipments fell by 62.4% to 1.07 million tonnes, according to customs weekly data on Monday, February 10. In January last year, Brazil exported 4.87 million tonnes of corn and 2.85 million tonnes of soybeans.
