On November 11, the website of Peru's Central Television reported that the batch of dragon fruits totaled 25 tons, produced in the San Juan Bautista region of the Ica Department. This region is the largest area for dragon fruit cultivation in the country. Minister of Agricultural Development and Irrigation of Peru, Ángel Manero, stated: "This is the result of the government's efforts to promote Peruvian products to more global markets. In November last year, we obtained market access approval from China, and now the growers in the Ica Department are realizing their dream of exporting agricultural products." The quarantine work of the National Agricultural Health Service ensured that this batch of dragon fruits met the requirements of the plant quarantine agreement reached with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), confirming that the goods did not contain quarantine pests such as the leaf-decay moth (Oiketicus kirbyi) and the spiral whitefly (Aleurodicus dispersus). The successful entry of dragon fruits into the Chinese market is due to the joint efforts of Peruvian public and private institutions over the past eight years. During the 31st APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting last year, Peruvian products finally obtained market access approval from China. China has become one of Peru's top trading partners. Agricultural products imported from Peru by China include blueberries, fresh grapes, and avocados. With the addition of dragon fruits to the trade list, Peru is expanding its commercial opportunities. It is worth mentioning that the Chinese market accepts both shelled and unshelled dragon fruits, which provides Peruvian exporters with more flexible sales options. Data shows that the area for dragon fruit cultivation in Peru has exceeded 3,700 hectares, with most growers being small to medium-scale. Currently, Peruvian dragon fruits have been exported to 32 global markets, with Germany being the top export market.

(Agraria.pe) In the first half of 2025, the commercial exchange between Peru and Thailand reached US$ 394.8 million, showing a growth of 30.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. This was indicated by the Foreign Trade Society of Peru (Comex Perú) which detailed that in the first semester of the current year, Peruvian exports to Thailand totaled US$ 47.3 million.
