Core Tip: Myanmar media quoted border fruit merchants as saying that Myanmar's "Shengdelong" mangoes have started to be exported to China, but the price in the Chinese market continues to be sluggish. In April, the number of mango transport vehicles at Myanmar's border ports decreased significantly, while the average daily customs clearance volume at the Muse Port in the same period of previous years could reach tens of thousands of tons. This year, only 2 or 3 trucks entered China via the Jingdong-Mongla-Daluo route. Shengdelong mangoes are facing unprecedented export difficulties.

According to Myanmar media reports, the Myanmar Fruit, Vegetable and Flower Growers and Exporters Association said that Myanmar avocados will be officially exported to China in the upcoming 2026/2027 production season. According to the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund Support Project, Myanmar is striving to meet the requirements of the General Administration of Customs to export avocados to China. At present, the crop protection department of the Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture is investigating the pests and diseases in orchards and taking preventive measures. In order to realize the export of avocados, China and Myanmar plan to inspect Myanmar orchards through video in October, November and December 2025. If all goes well, the inspection time may also be brought forward to September. After the inspection, the two sides signed a sanitary inspection and quarantine protocol, and it is expected that the official export will not be until 202 6/2027 production season. There are about 23 varieties of avocados in Myanmar, and the production season lasts from October to February and March of the following year. They are mainly grown in southern and northern Shan State, northern Chin State, Pyin Oo Lwin District of Mandalay Province and Sagaing Province. Before the outbreak of the epidemic at the end of 2019, 85% of Myanmar avocados were exported to Thailand, and a small amount entered China through border trade. Later, affected by the epidemic and the unstable situation in Myanmar, Myanmar avocado exports have been hindered. In recent years, Myanmar avocados have been working hard to open up the international market. Now in Yasuo Town in southern Shan State, Naukjo Town in the north and Pyin Oo Lwin Town in Mandalay Province, experts from the Crop Protection Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Myanmar and growers are cooperating in research to promote pest and disease control. According to the market and price changes in major edible palm oil producing and exporting countries around the world, the Yangon basic reference wholesale price of edible palm oil was 6,985 Myanmar Kyats per ton from February 17 to 23. The Edible Oil Import, Storage and Distribution Regulatory Committee of the Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar said that they monitor the FOB price of Malaysia, a major edible palm oil producer and exporter, every day, and formulate and publish reference wholesale prices for the domestic market every week in combination with transportation costs, bank fees and taxes. The committee also warned that if there are improper behaviors such as raising prices and hoarding in the domestic market, legal action will be taken in accordance with the "Important Goods and Services Law".
