Singapore, 12/08/2025 - The Ministry of Commerce of China announced on Tuesday that it will impose anti-dumping tariffs on rubber and canola products from Canada and will initiate an investigation into Canadian pea starch, after Ottawa decided to increase tariffs on Chinese steel imports as part of efforts to protect the domestic metal industry due to U.S. tariffs. The ministry informed that the rates are the result of an investigation initiated last September and will come into effect this Thursday. According to the ministry, the tariff on imports of halogenated butyl rubber from the company Arlanxeo Canada will be 26.2%; the tariff on these products from other Canadian companies will be 40.5%; and the rates on such imports from Japan will range from 13.8% to 30.1%.
