On the 4th, the Dangjin City Branch of the Korean Pork Association (Branch Director Yun In-hyun) held a neighborly love pork donation ceremony at the Dangjin City Hall, donating 1,000kg of pork worth 15 million won to the Dangjin City Welfare Foundation. This sharing event, following the early-year donation of neighborhood aid funds, was prepared with the aim of promoting pork consumption and practicing sharing in livestock farming. The donated pork will be distributed through the Dangjin City Welfare Foundation to social welfare facilities and vulnerable households in need. Branch Director Yun In-hyun said, "We prepared this with the hope that people can enjoy pork and stay healthy during the hot summer season" and "We will continue to support the local community."

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs monitoring, the "Agricultural Product Wholesale Price 200 Index" on July 4th was 112.30, up 0.13 points from yesterday, and the "Vegetable Basket" product wholesale price index was 112.28, up 0.15 points from yesterday. As of 14:00 today, the national agricultural product wholesale market average prices were: pork at 20.58 yuan/kg, up 1.4% from yesterday; beef at 63.37 yuan/kg, down 0.5%; mutton at 59.75 yuan/kg, up 0.9%; eggs at 7.05 yuan/kg, down 0.3%; and whole chicken at 17.12 yuan/kg, down 0.3%. The average price of 28 key monitored vegetables was 4.34 yuan/kg, down 0.7%; the average price of 6 key monitored fruits was 7.30 yuan/kg, down 0.7%. Crucian carp was 22.61 yuan/kg, up 0.8%; common carp was 15.52 yuan/kg, up 0.6%; silver carp was 10.34 yuan/kg, up 1.8%; and hairtail was 39.07 yuan/kg, up 1.1%. Today, among the 46 key monitored fresh agricultural products in domestic wholesale markets, the top five price increases compared to yesterday were pineapple, green pepper, silver carp, tomatoes, and pork, with increases of 2.5%, 2.3%, 1.8%, 1.4%, and 1.4% respectively. The top five price decreases were watermelon, celery, oyster mushrooms, pears, and Kyoho grapes, with decreases of 3.8%, 3.4%, 2.6%, 2.3%, and 2.2% respectively.

Despite pork maintaining high prices, local pork farmers are experiencing decreased profits due to reduced slaughter numbers and carcass weight caused by the heat wave, as well as increased cooling costs. Accordingly, pork farmers are demanding a reduction in feed prices, which account for the largest portion of production costs. According to the Korea Meat Trade and Export Association, pig slaughter numbers in June this year were 1,319,957 head. This represents a decrease of 45,209 head (3.3%) compared to 1,365,166 head during the same period last year. As slaughter numbers decline, pig market prices continue to rise.
