Pork from other countries can replace Ukrainian pork, but this will only happen if it is cheaper abroad.

In 2025, the import of pork significantly intensified and will remain an important factor in the market, but it does not pose a critical threat to domestic production, whereas the export decreased, and its geography remains very limited. This was reported by Delo.ua by Oleksandra Bondarska, head of the analytical department of the Association "Pig Breeders of Ukraine." The import of pork in 2025 was quite active, with total volumes amounting to 30.7 thousand tons or 76 million dollars in monetary terms. According to the results of January-November 2025, the volume of pork imports into Ukraine reached 28.4 thousand tons. This is almost 13 times more than in the same period of 2024, reports "ProAgro Group." In monetary terms, pork imports also increased 12.9 times, amounting to $70.8 million over 11 months of 2025. The main supplying countries became Denmark, accounting for 57.9% of total imports, Poland (19%), and the Netherlands (7.9%). The volume of Ukrainian pork exports in January-November 2025 decreased by 21.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 2.2 thousand tons. The value of exported products during this period decreased by 4.3%, reaching $6.6 million. The largest markets for Ukrainian pork remain the United Arab Emirates (33.9% of the total export volume), Hong Kong (16.9%), and Bahrain (16.6%).
