Abrafrigo: China buys less, but total beef exports in January grow 5% in volume and 11% in revenue
Beef imports by China decreased in January, but even so, total exports of the product grew 5% in volume and 11% in revenue, reported the Brazilian Association of Meatpackers (ABRAFRIGO), based on data compiled by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic). In January 2024, China, our largest customer, purchased 97,056 tons, with revenue of US$ 427.4 million and in January 2025, purchases fell to 91,185 tons, with revenue of US$ 448.9 million. As a result, the relative share of sales to China fell from 41.3% in 2024 to 37% in 2025, in volume, and from 46% to 43.4% in revenue. The diversification of Brazilian beef customers that has been taking place in recent years has led to total exports (including fresh and processed meats) of 246,762 tons, generating revenue of US$1.035 billion in 2025, compared to the movement of 234,146 tons and revenue of US$930.1 million in January 2024.
