Egypt Sugar Beet insights

Parliamentarians welcomed the government's announcement to raise the prices of sugar cane supply to EGP 2,500 per ton and sugar beet to EGP 2,400 per ton, stressing that it is an important step to ensure achieving Egyptian food security. The Cabinet agreed during its meeting last Thursday to set the indicative prices for sugar crops for the 2025 season to be EGP 2,500 for the supply of a ton of sugar cane and EGP 2,400 for the supply of a ton of sugar beet. For his part, MP Hesham El-Hosary, Chairman of the Agriculture and Irrigation Committee in the House of Representatives and Rapporteur of the Agriculture and Irrigation Committee in the National Dialogue, said that the government's announcement during the Cabinet meeting to raise the prices of sugar cane supply to EGP 2,500 per ton and sugar beet to EGP 2,400 per ton is an important step that encourages Egyptian farmers to grow these strategic crops. Al-Hosary added, in his statements today, that the timing of the decision is appropriate, noting that it comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and activation of the contractual farming law, with the aim of ensuring an appropriate profit margin for the farmer and at the same time meeting the state's needs for strategic crops, including sugar.
