Thailand destroys 64 tons of dyed durian and suspends export operations of 26 packaging plants
Rapiphat Chanthasriwong, director-general of the Thai Ministry of Agriculture, revealed that on February 5, the director of the Thai Plant and Agricultural Products Management Office reported that Laem Chabang Port The stationmasters of the plant inspection stations in Chabang and Aranyaprathet have taken measures to destroy durian, burying a total of 64,671 kilograms. The reason is that the Chinese Customs required that imported durian be tested for alkaline yellow from January 10, and these durians were refused entry and returned because they were tested for alkaline yellow. The Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Technology re-tested the durian samples in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Food and Drug Administration, and the analysis results showed that durian did contain alkaline yellow. At present, all problematic products have been landfilled and destroyed under the supervision of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Technology. The Thai Ministry of Agriculture has ordered the suspension of exports of 26 related durian packaging factories and instructed relevant agencies to investigate the cause of durian contamination. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture is revising the high-quality durian export operation manual, adding testing, control, tracking and random inspection procedures. In order to prevent the presence of banned substances in durian, Thailand has formulated the "four no" measures, namely, immature durian, pests, false declarations, and the use of banned chemicals are not allowed, ensuring that government officials, enterprises, markets, farmers and inspectors follow unified standards.
