Cheap Group launches 5 million yuan promotion; Trade Union and Lian Card members can enjoy discounts on necessities.
In conjunction with the May Day Labor Day, Pingjia Group has launched a discount offer worth a total of 5 million yuan, allowing NTUC and NTUC Link card members to enjoy discounts when purchasing specific daily necessities at Pingjia Supermarket or dining at designated Kopitiam eateries. Pingjia Group issued a statement saying that starting from Thursday (April 30), NTUC and NTUC Link card members, whether shopping at physical supermarkets or online, can enjoy half-price discounts on one daily necessity each week, with the relevant products to be announced every Thursday. The first round of promotions will be launched from April 30 to May 3, with a 5 kg pack of Double FP Thai Jasmine Fragrant Rice at half price, selling for 7 yuan and 5 fen (original price 14 yuan and 1 fen). The special products for the next two weeks will be announced on May 7 and 14, with the entire activity lasting until May 17. Members can enjoy the discount by presenting the Link Rewards card or NTUC membership card or by making payment through the Pingjia Group mobile app at checkout. This year's event also offers additional discounts for NTUC members. Members can enjoy half-price discounts on specified daily necessities by making payment through the Pingjia Group mobile app and using the relevant e-voucher before payment. This additional discount will be rolled out in three rounds, on April 30, May 7, and 14. The first round's special product is a 2-liter pack of Pingjia Canola Oil, which will be sold at 4 yuan and 7 fen and 5 fen after the discount. Additionally, the Pingjia Foundation has partnered with Kopitiam to launch a "5 cents Hot Coffee and Tea" offer at 70 outlets islandwide from May 1 to 31. Members with a Silver NTUC membership card can enjoy the offer by presenting their card at the counter or by using the e-voucher in the mobile app. Pingjia Group noted that due to the situation in the Middle East, global energy and supply chains have been impacted, leading to a continuous rise in various costs. The group launched this promotion to alleviate the public's living burden amid rising prices, allowing people to still purchase daily necessities at affordable prices. NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said that May Day Labor Day is an important day to affirm the contributions of workers. Besides providing protection in the workplace, when living expenses become a burden on workers and their families, NTUC also hopes to provide practical assistance. He said, "Pingjia Group's launch of discounts on daily necessities reflects our commitment to doing our part when the people need it, to help alleviate the pressure of living expenses. Moving forward, we will continue to work with labor movement partners to improve the lives and livelihoods of workers."
