Vietnamese fruits and vegetables affirm their position in the world market
Good news for Vietnamese fruits According to the information from the Plant Protection Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, it is expected that in 2025, Vietnamese passion fruit will be officially licensed to be exported to the US market. This is the result of negotiations between Vietnam and the United States on plant quarantine measures for the fruit. At present, the technical negotiation steps have been completed and the two sides are completing the necessary legal procedures. The fact that passion fruit is allowed to enter the US market is expected to create great momentum for the Vietnamese fruit and vegetable industry to continue to expand exports, especially to other demanding markets. Previously, on September 9, the Plant Protection Bureau and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony to announce that Vietnam would export passion fruit to Australia and Australian plums to Vietnam. Andrew Goleznov, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Ski commented that this is a new mark of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agricultural field. Following mango, longan, lychee and pitaya, passion fruit has become the fifth fresh fruit officially exported from Vietnam to Australia. Since the beginning of this year, fruits and vegetables have been the top export products in Vietnam's agricultural industry growth. Exceeding the forecast target at the beginning of the year (fruit and vegetable exports reached US$6 billion), this year's fruit and vegetable exports hit a record high, and it is expected to earn US$7.2 billion in foreign exchange. In 2025, driven by many favorable factors, Vietnam's fruit revenue target will also reach at least US$8 billion. If this milestone is successfully conquered, Vietnam will rank among the top five countries in the world in fruit product exports. Mr. Deng Fuyuan, Secretary General of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said: "In 202 In 2012, the export of fruits and vegetables only reached 3.3 billion US dollars. Last year, we set a record of 5.6 billion US dollars, and this year we expect to achieve revenue of 7.1 billion to 7.2 billion US dollars. In the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam's top ten fruit and vegetable markets continued to grow strongly. Thailand grew by nearly 80%, and South Korea, Russia, the United States or the Middle East market also grew by 36-40%. Through various free trade agreements and negotiations to open the door to more new fruits and vegetables, Vietnam is very confident about its goals for next year. Topping the list of fruit and vegetable exports is durian, with an estimated value of 3.3 billion US dollars. In second place is dragon fruit, worth about 435 million US dollars, although this product has declined compared to last year because China's imports in 2024 decreased by 40%. In third place The most popular products are bananas and mangoes, as well as jackfruit, coconuts, watermelons, etc. A new record is expected in 2025 Mr. Deng Fuyuan expects that the export value of fruits and vegetables will reach US$7.2 billion this year and US$8 billion next year. Among them, frozen durian and fresh coconut are exported to China, and passion fruit is being negotiated to be exported to the United States. Many new factors have emerged. In addition, for new products such as passion fruit, pomelo, fresh coconut, and frozen durian that have just been opened to the market, companies are still working hard to solve problems such as applying for planting area codes and packaging unit codes, and establishing relationships with foreign partners. In other words, companies are currently preparing. Although the first batch of pomelo, coconut and other products have been exported, the quantity is not large. Next year, these products will be able to play their advantages. Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hung, technical director of Vina T&T Group, said that fruit and even vegetable and fruit processing and export companies are ushering in
