UN Food and Agriculture Organization: Russia Will Rank Among Top Five Pork Exporters Globally by 2025
In 2013, Russia was among the top five global pork import countries, second only to Japan. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization estimates, such imports are now almost zero, at approximately 3,000 tons.
At the same time, the organization predicts that Russia's pork exports this year will increase by 14.3%, reaching 295,000 tons. This will elevate the country one position, making it the fifth-largest pork exporter globally.
Among the world's largest exporters, apart from Russia, only Brazil, ranked third, is expected to see export growth, increasing from 1.5 million tons last year to 1.7 million tons.
This year, the EU will maintain its leading export position, although its external supply will decrease by 2%, dropping to 2.94 million tons. US exports will also decline, by less than 1%, falling to 292,000 tons. Finally, Canada, the fourth-largest global exporter, will see its exports reduce by 3.3%, dropping to 1.4 million tons.
