Chile expects to export 444,000 tons of citrus fruits this season, up 11% year-on-year

Among them, tangerines, clementines and lemons will increase by 32%, 25% and 6% respectively. However, due to the decrease in the export volume of Fukumoto navel oranges, the export volume of oranges will decrease by 18%. It is predicted that Chile will be cold enough this winter and have abundant rainfall, and the fruit setting rate will be high in spring. However, the forecast export volume may be adjusted later according to unfavorable weather conditions. Valenzuela said that in order to increase the consumption of Chilean citrus fruits, In order to increase the volume of fruit, the Commission will promote citrus, clementines, lemons and oranges in the United States, and lemons in Japan. In the United States, the campaign will focus on retail institutions and consumers, with creative promotions at the point of sale and full use of social platforms. In Japan, a seminar will be held at the Chile Pavilion at the Osaka Expo. The Commission will invite Japanese lemon importers, distributors and professional media to participate. The seminar will focus on the characteristics and supply of Chilean lemons, focusing on topics such as Chile's export experience, industry sustainability, product supply, and fruit quality.
