The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture of Ukraine to provide state aid in the amount of 10,000 hryvnias (414.04 leva) per hectare for growing cotton in Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. This was announced by Vitaly Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. "The goal of the initiative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is to turn cotton into a strategic, not an exotic crop. Given the climatic conditions of the southern part of the country, the experience of scientists and the interest of agricultural producers, this is realistic. We are returning cotton to the southern part of Ukraine," said Vitaly Koval. The implementation of the program provides for: - job creation; - development of the textile, light and processing industries; - reduction of dependence on imports; - stable supplies of raw materials for the defense industry - from uniforms to smoke.
