Government Bans Import of 4 Food Commodities, Focuses on Fixing Fertilizer Distribution

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan explained that the government has imposed an import ban on four food commodities, namely rice, corn, sugar, and salt. According to him, this is a step in realizing Indonesia's ideals of achieving food self-sufficiency.
"This year, we have banned rice imports, banned corn imports, banned sugar imports, and banned salt imports, as important food commodities," said Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, who is called Zulhas, at Tanwir 1 Aisyiyah in Jakarta, Thursday (16/1/2025).
Zulhas believes that Indonesia has great potential to achieve food self-sufficiency. One of the efforts, he said, is by strengthening farmers through counseling, financial support, regulatory revisions, providing superior seeds, and strengthening the supply chain.
